About…
…the Author. I’m a devoted husband and father of four children, each of which is terrific and one of which happens to have special needs. By profession I’m an investment manager, and I am also a partner in (and advisor to) two small businesses, Baby Be Hip and Sunshine Hope. I try to be a positive, rational person, and I am at my happiest when my wife and children are smiling.
I love to contemplate people: what motivates their decisions and how those decisions come to define their life experience. I am fascinated by the choices people make and the impact of those choices, both on themselves as individuals as well as on society as a whole. I like to think of myself as a student of perspectives and decisions, and I love to engage in dialogue around motivation and the power of positive determination to influence better outcomes. I am also analytical by nature and love to disect businesses.
…the Topic. I believe that life’s journey is comprised of many steps, in essence a long series of choices. Some of the steps are big and some of them are small. Some are forward and some are backward. Occasionally we experience pitfalls or windfalls that are out of our control, but ultimately it’s the path we create through our choices that determines where we end up. It is also the range of experiences we have along the way…the highs and lows…that determine how we view that outcome.
The decisions we make also affect those around us and the choices they make, creating a ripple effect. This ripple can amplify as it travels, which means we not only have the power to change our own lives but our communities and beyond as well…potentially the world. For the better OR for the worse, just by living our lives.
Knowing we can make a difference, at least in our own lives, we are well-served to focus each day on moving forward, overcoming setbacks, and thinking positive. I try to look at challenges as opportunities; I am determined to create positive outcomes. My goal is to make each day a day of net progress.
…the Blog. This blog represents the synthesis of three major events in my life: becoming a father, my sister’s passing, and a recent change in my career path. It is intended to motivate me to explore and be thoughtful about subject matter that is important to me. It may be random at times, but this reflects the broad applicability of the subject matter…and the randomness of my own life. My hope is that writing in a public forum will allow me to evolve my views, engage with like-minded individuals, open my mind through dialogue with skeptics, and maybe help people look at their own lives (and the choices they make) a little differently. If nothing else, may it support my efforts to become a better husband, father, friend, employee and business partner.

Hey Brad,
Very impressive, I have read most of your entries. Very Impressive.
Thanks Rick!
